Lenz Addiction

Lenz Addiction ***ir . love it all. Only available in Canada. I specialize in portrait and wildlife photography.

Visit https://www.lenzaddictionphotography.ca/store to purchase wildlife prints! Sometimes I focus on one more than the other, but they are both my passion. My goal with my wildlife photography is to bring our wild animals to society's attention. These images are meant to be a reminder of how precious our wildlife is, and that these animals and our environment need to be protected for the health of the planet, and for our future generations to enjoy.

Well I am still going through my images from BC, and man do I have a lot to cull. I came across this video, and I thought I would share. This is a female great grey owl vocalizing. Apparently they have quite a distinct repertoire of sounds that they use for mating, territory, defense and calling to their young.

Great Grey Owls are born with natural hunting instincts, but perfecting their skills takes time. During their first few months, they refine their ability to locate prey by sound and execute precise pounces through practice, trial and error, and by observing their parents.

Sorry for not posting for a bit. Been busy with life lol not to mention chasing birds. Here is another shot of a great grey owlet in flight. Right place, right time, great capture. It was truly an awe-inspiring moment. I'm always amazed at how young, cute, and fluffy these owlets look while perched on a post, yet the moment they take flight, they suddenly look so much more mature and powerful.

Here are two videos of great grey owls hunting on opposite sides of the road. One hunted in the shade with a sunlit background, while the other hunted in full shade. Neither caught any prey. I took a moment to appreciate their beauty, then quietly left them to continue their hunt.

This was probably one of the most exhilarating moments I've experienced as a wildlife photographer. Pure luck led me to spot this young great grey owlet perched on a signpost along a quiet country highway. Within moments, it began calling for its mother, clearly ready for a meal! Then, with an eager cry for food, it launched into flight toward her. Watching that moment unfold was both exhilarating and beautiful—an experience I'll never forget.

From the archives: Long-eared owlets. While both parents share the responsibility of raising their young, the male takes the lead on hunting early on, delivering small mammals—particularly voles—back to the nest.

This was the female Great Grey Owl that I was observing. She had this unusual habit of resting with her wings kind of down a bit and open. Never seen a ggo sit like that before. Maybe she was hot?
