Hey everyone,
As most of you know, Mic Drop Reviews has never charged a single artist, festival, or venue for my work. For the past couple of years it’s been an absolute honor to serve this scene. The truth is, I’ve been keeping this alive mostly out of my own pocket. There have been nights I’ve gone without meals just to make sure I could keep showing up, taking photos, filming, and writing reviews — because this has truly been a lifelong dream of mine. But I need your help. Gas prices are brutal, my truck drinks fuel like it’s water, and I’m honestly struggling to even get to the shows that need coverage. If you’ve ever enjoyed my photos, videos, or reviews, and you can spare anything at all, it would mean the world to me. Every dollar helps me get to more shows and also goes toward better gear so I can keep bringing you higher-quality content. I still don’t make a dime doing this. I do it because I love it and I believe in the artists — just like many of you. If you believe in what I’m doing, please consider chipping in to help keep Mic Drop Reviews alive. How do you even begin to write about The Creekers? These Kentucky treasures have grown so far, so fast, that no review could ever fully capture just how special this group of God-given talent truly is—not just to us in Kentucky, but to music fans everywhere right now. I’ve been following The Creekers for a long while. I still remember those early days when the crowds were small and intimate. Watching them explode into the massive, mind-blowing audiences they draw today has been pure joy—and I’m pretty sure it took even them by surprise! I was thrilled when the Master Musicians Festival announced they were coming back for a second year in a row—this time as headliners. It was worth every minute of waiting. The energy that night was electric. You could feel the Kentucky pride radiating from the crowd. Everyone was overjoyed to have “our band” back home after all their success, singing along like family. If you’ve been paying attention, you know they just lit up Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado—one of the most iconic stages on the planet. As someone born in Colorado, I know exactly how huge that stage is and what it means to be able to play there. To see our Eastern Kentucky family grace those legendary rocks and hold their own with thousands in awe was nothing short of amazing. They absolutely blew that historic venue away. The Creekers are the real deal: a lively six-piece band straight out of Leslie County. They take the sacred bluegrass sound Kentucky holds so dear and make it fresh—blending it with country heart, pop energy, and their own irresistible spice and fun. They call it “not your papaw’s bluegrass,” and it shows. You don’t have to be a bluegrass fan to fall in love with them. Their music just makes you happy. Pure and simple. From their breakout viral smash “Tennessee” that took over the charts to their recent major label signing, these kids are putting Kentucky on the national map in a big way. And they’re only getting started. If you haven’t heard of The Creekers yet, stop what you’re doing and fix that right now. Stream their music, learn their story, and most importantly—go see them live. One show and you’ll be hooked forever. They bring joy to everyone’s hearts, whether you’re in a small holler or a packed amphitheater. The Creekers are everybody’s band. They make us all proud. I adore everything about them and everything they stand for. I’m a Creeker for life, baby! ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been following Mama Said String Band Band since I first caught them at the HollerGirl Music Festival a year ago, and I’ve loved watching their journey unfold. So when I heard they were playing the Master Musicians Festival, I’ll admit—I wanted to squeal. These guys are the real deal, and so are their fans. Hailing from Louisville, this four-piece bluegrass, folk, and Americana band has been making serious waves. They’ve earned regional honors as Bluegrass Artist of the Year and Best Bluegrass Band, and they’ve graced stages at Railbird, FloydFest, and ROMP. But tonight they were right here on one of Kentucky’s most treasured stages at The Master Musicians Festival—and they brought the fire. Their sound is something special. It’s traditional at its core but wild around the edges, with this almost spooky, hypnotic quality that grabs you and won’t let go. The instrumentals felt like they’d been pulled from an old, creaking closet—raw, dark, and alive. And when they let loose, it was an energetic, lethal dose of sound that made you stop whatever you were doing just to soak it in. They played like a well-oiled machine, their songs carrying you for miles if you let them. I’m so glad I got to see some familiar faces tonight. Mama Said String Band absolutely crushed it and set a tough act to follow for The Creekers, who closed out the night. If you haven’t seen them yet, do yourself a favor—go follow them and catch a show. They’re worth every second. Can’t wait to see where they go next. ❤️

Cam Clark & His Orchestra, based in Paris, Kentucky, is one of the most unique bands I've seen in a long while. I'd never experienced them before, and what an experience I got—hands down one of the best surprises of the day. These guys came out roaring like a lion looking for his next feast, and the show started as powerfully as it ended. Straight-up mind-blowing. Cam Clark & His Orchestra is an immersive musical project led by Paris, Kentucky-based singer, songwriter, and producer Cam Clark, and man, this was exactly what The Master Musicians Festival needed. What I witnessed was nothing short of breathtaking—a highly theatrical presentation, raw with emotional intensity. I wasn't expecting that when they first walked on stage, and that's what I love most: those unexpected surprises when you come across a band you've never seen before. The theatrical feeling you get, combined with how hard the band plays to show they deserve that stage, was more than enough for me. But really, it was the music that set them apart from the rest. They were completely locked into what they were doing and how they were doing it. Let's just say they knew exactly how to tickle the crowd like a feather. One thing I noticed bigger than any other act at the festival was Cam Clark's stage presence. It was really powerful—he owned it. That guy seems like one of those musicians who calls the stage home, where he finds the most happiness. It was just nice for once to see an artist take a stage and truly own it, directing the audience like puppets. To me, that's powerful. Watching a crowd sink so deep into the spell is nothing but joyous to my heart. I don't know how anyone else feels, but this was easily one of my top bands of the day. They really grabbed my heart, and they really do have some good music. Do these guys a favor and go follow Cam Clark on Facebook—keep up with what I call magic, and definitely keep an eye out for a show near you. The Master Musicians Festival got this one right, and this will go down in the books. Super job, Cam Clark & His Orchestra. I'll be keeping watch on you. So, so good.
