Some things are bigger than photography. ❤️
For 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing high school seniors. I’ve watched so many young people stand in front of my camera with their whole lives ahead of them.
Dreams to chase.
Places to go.
People to love.
Memories waiting to be made.
But recently, my family was reminded just how quickly all of that can change.
On October 3rd, my Uncle Jody was struck and killed by a vehicle.
He was simply living his life. A life filled with laughter, love, lawnmowers, and more friends than we ever knew he had.
And in an instant, he was gone.
Our family will never be the same.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to honor him. How to take something so heartbreaking and turn it into something that might make a difference.
And then I thought about my seniors.
These kids are just beginning their lives. They’re getting their licenses, driving to school, heading out with friends, and preparing to take on the world.
And I want every single one of them to make it home.
So, beginning now, KD Photography is introducing The Jody Pledge. ❤️
Any high school senior who makes a personal commitment to never text and drive, and signs a pledge promising to keep their eyes on the road and their phone out of their hands, will receive 10% off their senior session fee.
Not because I want to offer a discount.
But because I want to start a conversation.
I want these kids to remember Uncle Jody’s story the next time their phone lights up behind the wheel.
I want them to understand that answering a text can wait.
That no notification is worth someone’s life.
That somewhere, someone is counting on them to make it home.
My uncle deserved to make it home that morning, too.
And if sharing his story convinces even one young driver to put their phone down, then maybe, just maybe, another family won’t have to experience what ours has.
