Senior photo sneak peak:
This guy’s senior portrait session was so much fun! We all had to get up super early, but it was worth it!

It has always been a treat to hang out with him, and I’ve been lucky enough to watch him grow up in front of my camera.

Congratulations on the start of senior year and the beginning of football season, Luke!

People insist that newborn babies must be asleep for a portrait session. I have to disagree!

It felt like a gift to see Olive’s beautiful blue eyes gleaming back at my camera.

She’d needed some time in the Special Care Nursery when she made her debut, about one month earlier than expected. I think her plan all along was to keep her wonderful parents on their toes. :)

She arrived at the studio, her oxygen in tow, with her parents managing it with grace. Her saturation levels were already trending upward, so she was allowed to take intermittent breaks from the oxygen.

After they removed it temporarily for some portraits, she looked like she was dancing, arms outstretched in an ebullient celebration!

I was really struck by how responsive she was to sounds; she quieted and turned toward her mom and dad whenever they spoke. I used some toys and sounds that I usually reserve for older babies, but they worked like a charm.

Even when she was sad, she was expertly and lovingly consoled by her parents. They each snuggled Olive tenderly in their arms, a perfect fit.

Her dad came up with this highly effective swing-swing-stop technique to get the best expressions. Her mom used her photographic savvy to anticipate the little details in the portraits, reading my mind.

Watching her parents cuddle her, I could feel the overwhelming love and joy surrounding this precious little girl. I’m so happy I got to document it!

I loved this moment with her.

One of my favorite things about my job is watching families grow, and I met Livia when she was in utero!

I am so enjoying meeting with this year’s current crop of high school seniors to plan their sessions. Pre-session Planning Meetings are almost as fun as the photo shoots themselves!

It’s where we set the stage for a good relationship or reconnect so I can get to know this version of my subject.

During her session, Liv and I happily annoyed her mom, Kirsten, by speaking in British accents pretty much the whole time. 😂🤣

Have you heard Liv's? She’s sooo good at it!

Fortunately, Kirsten is blessed with an amazing sense of humor and didn’t complain 🙂

Look at her shine! What a beautiful talent, and an intelligent, delightful person, to boot.

It’s such a pleasure to get to know each person we photograph so we can authentically tell their story in finished artwork.

I got to make portraits of Eliza every year as she grew up, so I have memories of her from each stage.

This one, when she’s practically taking flight, is extra special.

It’s a moment that I hope she and her family can return to whenever they want.

Do’s and Don’ts for High School Seniors - some things you should know about senior portraits.

In Celebration of Father’s Day - I’ve photographed this wonderful family many times but this time was unique.

For a personal project to celebrate of Father’s Day, we asked Nick and Luke to come back into the portrait studio and the podcast studio to pay tribute not only to their first real portrait together, but to their father son relationship over time.

Wow. We absolutely loved what they had to share.

I hope you are moved by it as much as we were.

Hasn’t this rain been beautiful?!

Soon we’ll have beautiful flowers for family and senior portraits in Flagstaff & Sedona! 🙌🏻

Can you tell how much I love these?

As of now, forecasts predict that we’ll get a good monsoon season this summer.🤞🏼☔️

Keiji & I spend a ton of time scouting locations to discover where the best flowers are blooming every year. :)

Let’s hope we’re rewarded with beautiful flower blooms for our location sessions.

We still have some spots left for flower portraits for family photos, senior photos, and maternity photos.

Reach out if you want to schedule a pre-session planning meeting.
