CAN WE TALK BLACK BEARS: So we had one on our street in Brittany Knolls, Trilby and Lemay last night for the 1st time in over 20 years of living here and it sucks because it got into someones trash.
I am a wildlife photographer and have had lots of experience with Bears. We don't want them getting food rewards because they will come back for more sadly. This usually leads to them being put down.
They are all desperate for water and food in the worst drought I have seen in over 50yrs as a Colorado native. They have had over 6100 bear reports in Colorado so far this year Colorado Parks and Wildlife are Slammed. I called the neighborhood HOA so people could be alerted and not put trash out early and to be aware.
Thoughts:
**They really want nothing to do with you!
*It is not cute watching them get in places that could eventually cost them a life.
*If you see them make noise honk horns, bang pots and pans together, pull out the air horn, they also sell motion detected sound machines for cheap.
*Get the Halloween decor out early ha ha.
*If you encounter one, get big, make noise, stand with other people, don't stair them down and try to keep them from wanting to be around people.
*Don't leave back doors open or windows open for pets
*Clean the kids snacks out of your car
