I captured this male Mallard Duck recently at my local pond. The colours of the Mallard Ducks are absolutely beautiful when their wings are extended.

Do you think this guy was simply stretching out his wings or showing off a little ?

"Phantom of the North"

Last month I had an amazing opportunity to photograph one of the most beautiful and surreal animals, a Great Grey Owl. These owls have nicknames such as the Phantom of the North and Great Grey Ghost as they are normally an uncommon sight throughout their home in the boreal forest.

"Comet Lemmon"

C/2025 A6 Lemmon imaged last Sunday evening (Oct 26, 2025).

This comet only reached just above magnitude 4 which means it's barely visible by eye in dark skies or via binoculars. But what a beautiful comet it is !! The long tail structure on this comet is insane.

I first imaged it back on Oct 5 and it increased in brightness throughout October. Sadly, as the comet is only visible in the western sky just after sunset, the brightening moon is washing out the comet and becoming harder to capture.

C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) ☄️

There’s a new comet appearing in our early morning eastern sky, Comet A6 Lemmon !

It’s not easy to spot yet. I captured this on my Nikon Z6 and Nikon 200-500 @ 500mm.

If you don’t have any fancy equipment you could spot it rising in the east from around 4am to 6am before sunrise with a decent pair of binoculars. It is slowly brightening and may become visible to the unaided eye (after sunset to the west) later this month.

It’s definitely something to watch out for 🔭🤓

Kempenfelt Lights 🌃

On the evening of September 14, 2025, a surprise solar storm blew past our planet, with the result being a beautiful display of the Northern Lights from just after sundown until around 11pm.

For years I’ve been imagining photographing the Northern Lights over Barrie’s beautiful waterfront/downtown. The problem, for anyone experienced in shooting the Aurora, is that light pollution weakens our view of the night sky immensely. But, I figured that during a stronger Northern Lights display, I could quite possibly capture just enough data with my camera to create something special.

Photographing the night sky with bright city lights can be very challenging. In this image, I had to shoot at a very low ISO to not totally blow out the highlights (city lights). Was kinda walking a fine line with the camera settings to be able to produce a good result. I think I’m happy with the final outcome.

Please feel free to like, comment, and share (with credit), as this helps me greatly !

"Flying to the Moon" ✈️🌕

On the evening of Sep 7, I was out on my front porch photographing the Full Moon and little did I know, I captured an Air Canada Boeing 737 MAX 8 (AC995) flying from Montreal to Mexico City !! This airliner was ~70km away flying at 34,000 ft in my photographs. Crazy !!

When originally reviewing the photos on my viewfinder I saw a black spec but didn't know until I viewed them on my PC that it was an airliner. What crazy luck to have this happen as it wasn't planned or intentional at all.

Thanks to Mario Trunz for helping me figure out which airplane this was.

Photographed on my Nikon Z6 & 200-500 lens. Images are cropped for better viewing on mobile devices.

Black-capped Chickadee

These fun little guys remind me of the E-Woks off of Star Wars. They’re constantly chattering and bouncing around. They never stay in one spot for very long which makes them difficult to photograph. I was fortunate to have had this little guy perched just long enough to get a few images.
