Kempenfelt Lights 🌃
On the evening of September 14, 2025, a surprise solar storm blew past our planet, with the result being a beautiful display of the Northern Lights from just after sundown until around 11pm.
For years I’ve been imagining photographing the Northern Lights over Barrie’s beautiful waterfront/downtown. The problem, for anyone experienced in shooting the Aurora, is that light pollution weakens our view of the night sky immensely. But, I figured that during a stronger Northern Lights display, I could quite possibly capture just enough data with my camera to create something special.
Photographing the night sky with bright city lights can be very challenging. In this image, I had to shoot at a very low ISO to not totally blow out the highlights (city lights). Was kinda walking a fine line with the camera settings to be able to produce a good result. I think I’m happy with the final outcome.
Please feel free to like, comment, and share (with credit), as this helps me greatly !
