A full house. An unforgettable opening night.

SineMa 2026 officially opened to a packed and sold-out crowd for the Philippine Independence Day Gala and the Calgary premiere of Treasure of the Rice Terraces. From the breathtaking landscapes of the Cordillera to the powerful story of identity, culture, and tradition, audiences were captivated from start to finish.

The evening also featured a Philippine Independence Day reception by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary attended by members of Calgary’s consular corps, community leaders, partners, and supporters, celebrating the enduring friendship, cultural connections, and contributions of the Filipino community.

Audiences also had the opportunity to engage in a special Q&A with director Kent Donguines, who shared insights into the making of the film.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this opening night such a success.
